College tips
  • Don't miss class. Even if the class is stupid, that's the best way to learn a course.
  • You don't live in a king's palace. You may think, "This college was built for me! All the services are for me! Once I pick my major, I am on the road to success… all my classes are going to be interesting." Well, no. That's not true at all. You will have classes that you will find incredibly pointless. Guess what? NO ONE FUCKING CARES. Find something about it you like, and if it's manageable work, make a good grade.
  • Don't let yourself get illuded by the easiness of the first two weeks. It will get harder later. Try to develop a good study pattern from the beginning.
  • Video or computer games are from the devil. Don't get sucked in!!
  • Not every roommate is perfect. Even if you live in the Honors dorms, your roommates may not be making the best decisions at any point in time. You don't have to do what they do.
  • Don't be afraid to get out of the dorm room. Most people find that their work is more productive outside of the room. Take advantage of this if this is true for you.
  • Do not get behind. Let me say that again: DO NOT GET BEHIND. Again, try to develop a good study pattern from the beginning.
  • Don't be afraid to talk to your professors. They are there to help you. They do not hate you. They will not think you are stupid if you show that you are trying to make an effort.
  • Open your mind to new knowledge. Don't fall into the the mental trap of thinking, "I've learned all that I need to learn." Obviously, if you're needing to take a class, you need to learn more, end of story.
