Things I want in a window manager
Things that I want in a window manager:
- Easy configurability. If the WM uses configuration files, then they should read well and be fairly simple to edit. The perfect window manager wouldn't need configuration files though — it would handle everything automatically.
- Support for WindowMaker apps. I want GKrellM and wmweather+ and wmnet, thanks.
- Alt-Tab should work right. A list of apps should appear in the middle of the screen, and you should be able to cycle through them.
- You should be able to access the apps menu from anywhere.
- Support for virtual desktops. You should be able to add however many you want.
- It should look good. Support for transparency. You should be able to edit themes fairly easily.
- Good documentation. I'm stupid, really lazy, and I don't have time to fool around with my WM.
- The applications menu should be updated if a new application is installed.
- Applications should remember window size and position the last time they were loaded.
